Bauck GmbH is once again expanding its production capacity. The latest expansion marks another important milestone after the commissioning of the largest and most modern organic oat mill in Europe in 2020. In order to meet the growing demand for gluten-free and organic products, the machinery has been extended – as before in successful cooperation with the world-renowned machine and plant manufacturer F. H. SCHULE Mühlenbau GmbH.

Since the end of 2024, the Bauck oat mill has been operating under the new name “Roscher Mühle”. This was accompanied by a comprehensive technical expansion of the company's machinery. The expansion of the hulling, sorting, groat cutting, flaking and pelleting equipment – including impact hullers, oat polisher, husk separators, table separators, drum groat cutters, hydrothermal conditioners, flaking roller mill, fluidized bed dryers/coolers and flat die pellet mill – ensures a significant increase in capacity. The hulling mill capacity is now 10 tons per hour, and the annual processing capacity exceeds 50,000 tons of raw oats. As a result, the company is well prepared to meet increasing market requirements and growing demand.

Strong expansion with a reliable partner

“It was an easy decision for us to once again choose SCHULE as our partner,” explains Friedemann Wecker, Managing Director of Bauck GmbH and Roscher Mühle. “Thanks to the fast planning and implementation, the machines could be delivered and installed in record time. The changeover during ongoing operation was a special challenge – but it went smoothly and without any production downtime.”

SCHULE is also more than satisfied with the cooperation. “The fact that Bauck has chosen us once again confirms the quality of our processes and our partnership-based cooperation,” says Marius Hermes, Managing Director of SCHULE Mühlenbau. “The successful commissioning in such a short time during ongoing production shows how flexible and solution-oriented the project teams acted. A success all around.”

Strategic expansion and economic significance

With the expansion, Bauck is not only increasing its capacities, but also opening up new markets. “In addition to our traditional flake business, we are intensifying our cooperation with the food industry,” explains Sebastian Huber, Managing Director of Roscher Mühle. “Our modern plants enable us to produce flours, brans and flakes with specific technological properties – exactly what our industrial customers need.”

At the same time, four new employees were added to the team to efficiently handle the additional production requirements. Bauck remains true to its philosophy of creating regional jobs and further promoting organic farming.

New structures for the future

At the same time as the expanded mill went into operation, Bauck implemented a structural change: the production of gluten-free organic products is now concentrated in the new subsidiary Roscher Mühle. This step will enable the company to respond even more effectively to the needs of the market. Consumers will see no change, as the products will continue to be sold in small packages under the Bauck Mühle brand.

As for the future, Roscher Mühle is still on the lookout for new oat suppliers, especially in northern, eastern, and western Germany, to ensure the mill's continued growth. With this successful expansion, Bauck is consolidating its market leadership in gluten-free and organic cereal products.
