The indented cylinder with cellular pockets (indents) is designed for sorting by length. Grains, seeds, kernels and other free-flowing products that are to be separated from each other often differ only in their length. Due to these differences in length, they can be precisely separated with the indented cylinder.
Thousands of indents are pressed into the special steel sheet jackets that form the cylinder. These indents separate all broken grains or shorter products. They are fed into a cavity, which can be adjusted during operation, and removed. This ensures an immediate adjustment of the separation efficiency without any production downtime. The product from the jacket and the product from the cavity leave the machine through two separate outlets. Both outlets are easily accessible and allow checks and sampling of the sorted or separated product at any time.
The indented cylinder can be used not only for round grains, but also for long grains.
In the cleaning process, the indented cylinder, together with many other machines, is used to remove impurities from the grain, usually downstream of the circular vibrating screen and the destoner.
